Empire City Soccer has partnered with Moreau Recreation to launch Bulldogs FC, a fall recreation soccer league for Pre-k to grade 6.

The Moreau Rec Soccer Program At Harry Betar Jr. Recreational Park is under the direction of Empire City Soccer Academy.

The Moreau Rec Soccer Program (Bulldogs FC) is for players Pre-K (age 4) to 6th grade and is designed as an introduction to soccer with a mix of skill training and game play with an emphasis on fun. All ages are “non-results orientated” meaning there are no official game scores or standings. Coaches will be asked to play everyone equally and to move players around the field in all different positions. Players are free to try things, make mistakes, learn and have fun.

Why Rec Soccer...
  • We believe children (and adults) of all ages should be engaged in some form of athletic activity throughout the year.
  • We soccer is the best first sport for young children because it requires the least hand-eye coordination and least upper body strength to successfully participate.

​Fall Soccer...
  • The Fall season typically starts the first Saturday after school starts in September and is 6 weeks in length.  There are no games Columbus Day Weekend.
  • There will be two, 1-hour sessions per week
    • Midweek – 20 minutes skills training & 40 minutes game play
    • Saturday – 10 minute warm up & 50 minute game play
  • Actual schedules and game times will be determined by the number of participants that register.
Spring Soccer...
  • The Spring season typically starts mid April and is 6 weeks in length leading up to Memorial Day Weekend. 
  • There will be one, 1-hour session per week
    • 15-20 minutes skills training & 40-45 minutes game play
  • Actual schedules and game times will be determined by the number of participants that register.
Volunteer Coaches...
  • Like most recreation level youth sports programs, we depend on Volunteer Parent Coaches.
  • We try to have two (or more) coaches for each team, so that a parent does not need to be there for every session to volunteer.
  • When you register your child you also have the opportunity to volunteer to help make our SGF soccer program a huge success!
  • Soccer/coaching experience is nice but not required especially at the younger ages – Empire City will provide a coaching curriculum for those interested.

What is Empire City Soccer Academy?

Empire City Soccer was founded in 2001 and has been training players ever since. In addition to running Moreau Rec in the fall and spring, Empire City has 6 week winter training sessions for 5-10 year olds in the winter. These are held at Chase Sports in South Glens Falls. They also have U12-U19 boys and girls teams for the most committed, dedicated players. These teams are tryout based. They also offer an annual College ID Summer Camp for 9th-12th graders.
